Former NSW Liberal Party leader Kerry Chikarovski says the upcoming election was “always” going to be one in which national security played a part.
This comes after Defence Minister Peter Dutton on Anzac Day warned Australians needed to prepare for war.
Ms Chikarovski told Sky News Australia there has been much concern over the aggression of Vladimir Putin’s government and “what it might mean for the rest of Europe”.
“I think what Peter Dutton is saying (is) that we have greater concerns as well and obviously the Prime Minister is saying that we have greater concerns in our immediate area.
“People are more concerned now about what might be happening with China.”
