Japan ‘more assertive’ in own self-defence

United States Studies Centre’s Stephen Loosley says Japan has become “more assertive” in its own self-defence.

Mr Loosley said the Abe doctrine has “taken hold” in Japan’s political system.

“Japan must do more, must do more with allies such as the United States, and increasingly Australia,” he told Sky News Australia.

“At the core of the Quad, is the late prime minister Abe’s determination to put that framework together.”
